About Hill Country Fly Co.

I grew up fishing. Corpus Christi bay, spinning rod, chasing reds and speckled trout. That was fishing for most of my life and it was great. I wasn't looking to change anything.

Early last year I picked up a fly rod for the first time and now I can't think about much else.

Fly fishing does something to your brain. You start looking at water differently, paying attention to stuff you never noticed before. It's technical and frustrating and more addictive than anything I've tried. I'm still figuring it out and honestly that's kind of the whole point.

Hill Country Fly Co. is where I document all of it. The rivers, the fish, the flies that worked and the ones that got ignored. Mostly the Medina and the Guadalupe, sometimes wherever else I can get to.
